why you dont have a girlfriend

KEY - because the picture didnt show up all the way

Im only average looking, but have a fun personality.

Im shy around girls, but great once I get to know them.

I dont hang out with the popular crowd but have fun, close friends.

I cant afford to buy her nice things, but Im willing to put the time and effort.

Im a level 80 Paladin

Ok let me clarify this one a little bit.

Its not because this person has a level 80 WoW character (btw 85 is the new 80) but because he has a level 80 Paladin. You see Paladins are ridiculous characters that have pretty good strength, can heal, resurrect, buff the crap out of themselves, and are basically effing cheating gay blurbs that are best used for starters. Yes I know I have a blood Elf Paladin...she is ridiculous.

So the reason these people dont have a girlfriend isnt because they play WoW enough to get to level 80 but because they want to get to a goal without working as hard as everyone else (AKA Bill Gates-ish). Oh and the fact he is calling himself a level 80 Paladin...is it the only character? What a loser. He is not a level 80 but his character is. Hopefully he doesnt run around like a douche with his level 80 Paladin and has created another character =]

B blog I think so!

this blog was originally about Adam...and he said "Make this blog about Adam playing L4D2 DEMO while he is playing vs. on the Demo" and he says Fuck You Jacob....

-_-

Adam youre an attention whore.

So I really like the name Raine...which is something he picked out. Well I love it except it is really hard to find a middle name for.

I asked Thim and this is what she came up with
Raine May
Raine Elizabeth
Raine Elliot (thim Elliot is a boys name...still lol)
Raine Emily
Raine Addie
Raine Annie
Raine Paige
Raine Anabelle
and someone said Raine Noelle

men always pick the hardest names.

Maybe Raine Annette....

I really love Danae as a name (It originally has an accent...so Danaƫ) and Zarah (Zara) just cayse they sound cool...and are exotic as well as Sonora and Tenaya. But...out of all boy names...I still favor Orion :O and have started to favor Dante. My only problem with Dante is the first Dante I met was an annoying black kid who I wanted to punt cause of his short size. Tenaya...was a girl in high school who was very...well...out there, a stoner, got knocked up, and dropped out of high school...lol. I severley started to favor Dante as a boys name when Adam suggested it.

so Yup...at Adams house. He totally wanted me to write a blog about him. He made me dinner...it was super filling and awesomely delicious. My stomach hurts though -no fault of his- and not sure what I want to write about. Kinda wanna cuddle with this blanket that I used to hate cause it would spit out feathers.

And I kinda want him to come warm me up but he is playing video games...being all chippy like.

So now time to have a binary conversation with Thim on facebook <3

The Weekend is near and I Need the Rest

This has been a huge week that everyone here in South East Queensland will be glad to put to bed as soon as we can. There is so much heartache and in some areas the smell is sickening. But I need to not dwell on this and deal with what is at hand.

This is unbelievable news about aquaponics. Here is the system for anyone: poor and rich alike.
Saves you your quality of life, your time, your resources, and many more.
Enter aquaponics, the whole of food gardening which has a small but growing group of followers, not least because its advantages seem almost too good for being true. An aquaponics installation requires no soil, scant water (two-ten percent of what’s employed in usual vegetable garden), a modest financial outlay and minimal maintenance. There’s no coping with pesticides, and also the system is sustainable and straightforward to set up. For gardeners alert to.....

                                    ...oooOooo...

How Aquaponics Changes the Game
- Waist-high aquaponic gardening eliminates weeds, back strain and animal access to your garden.
- Reuse resources currently considered “waste”. There is no more toxic run-off from either hydroponics or aquaculture.
- Uses only 1/10th of the water of soil-based gardening, and even less water than recirculating aquaculture.
- Watering is integral to the system. You can’t under-water or over-water.
- Fertilizing is also integral to the system. You can’t over-fertilize or under-fertilize.
- Gardening chores are cut down dramatically or eliminated. The aquaponic grower only does

                                    ...oooOooo...

Aquaponics system is the most sustainable food production system in our world today. Aquaponics in a dynamic, natural, pond-type eco-system, produces both fish and organic vegetables; thus producing 2 streams of income. Aquaponics systems provide controlled environment where aquaculture (fish breeding/growing) and hydroponics (soil less plant growing) is integrated together in a symbiotic habitat. It is composed of a water re-circulating environment where the fish and plants live symbiotically. Both light and temperature are carefully controlled in an aquaponic system....

Send in the clones: Popular scion exchange could produce hundreds of fruit trees

By nadia drake

APTOS -- Some of the tastiest fruits cant be bought. Not because theyre too expensive, but because they dont exist in stores. However, they can be grown -- cloned, actually -- by the average backyard gardener.
On Jan. 16, the Monterey Bay chapter of the California Rare Fruit Growers will host a scion exchange, where cuttings from fruit trees -- called scions -- will be available to buy and graft onto root stocks. There also will be a short grafting workshop, and custom trees can be created on the spot.
Fusing a scion to a root stock produces a clone of the scions donor tree, with the same tasty fruit -- like, for example, the funny-looking, scrumptious Allens Everlasting apple, which is not available at the neighborhood Safeway...

CROIX-DES-BOUQUETS, HAITI—By the time he was 4, Carlos Desir’s parents had died. His uncle and aunt, who adopted him, said only that they fell ill.
Then, late on the afternoon of Jan. 12, the earthquake that cleaved Port-au-Prince brought down his second home. His aunt, uncle and three cousins were crushed to death.
Next week marks the anniversary of the earthquake and, for 13-year-old Carlos, better times with families Nos. 3 and 4. The third is a group of orphaned and abandoned kids in an idyllic new children’s home on the city’s edge. The fourth — and most unlikely of all his families — is that of Air Canada’s chief operating officer, Duncan Dee, two plane rides away in Ottawa....

Why is there very little take up of Aquaponics in the commercial arena around the world? Is it lack of knowledge, too new and unknown or just too hard to make it work profitably?

Its not to do with making it work properly; it has been put to bed by now that this technology works and works well. My work at University and in New Zealand shows categorically that you can match, and even sometimes better, hydroponic plant growth rates and the harvest quality of the plants. Its more about whether it is financially viable or not. All commercial entities need to...

Grandma is a fag

Grandma, mom, Danny, and I went to K-mart the other day...and I told grandma that if she did this one thing (dont even remember) then she is a fag. She then went on to tell me later that she is a fag. Then she wanted to buy this stupid blow up penguin thing and I told her that shed get chlamydia if she bought it. She yelled out in the store that she wanted chlamydia.

LOL fail grandma.

So the picture on the left is a 24 month onsie... It says Stud Muffin seeks cupcakes. *Must be sweet. I totally wish I had a kid so I could have an excuse to buy it lol. Its effing cuuute. I mean the cutest thing I have ever seen for a baby boy (or lesbian baby I guess...if youre that into your kid being a lesbian).

Oh anyway...earlier that day we went to Frys. I asked where I could find Nero or any other DVD ripping software. The guy went on about how it didnt void copyright. Do I look stupid? I mean wtf!!! So now fully irritated he tried to get me to buy Roxio...which I beyond HATE. I gave him the stupid look (the punch you face Tom always talks about but times 100) and just turned up my iPod and walked away with Nero.

Then I saw Kelly and was like ZOMG KELLY I LOVE YOUUUZ

anyway...Ima go steal some candy and a soda from my diabetic fag of a grandmother XD

Tick Tick I wish I had 36 hours in a day

Combating Food Insecurity and Protecting the Environment through Adaptive Agriculture

More than a billion people in the world today are hungry because they are poor. At the same time, climate change further threatens the food security and livelihoods of subsistence farmers.

According to the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) the world does currently produce enough food for everyone, but the challenge is in overcoming inequities caused by lack of access, poor agricultural management practices, dwindling water resources, changing weather patterns and a lack of knowledge about potential adaptive measures—all making for food insecurity among the most vulnerable populations.

Dickson Community Garden
By Kim Lester (666 ABC Canberra)
Finding space for a decent garden in Canberras inner north can be tough, so when Dickson College offered the Canberra Organic Growers Society (COGS) a patch of land to build a community garden, naturally they jumped at the opportunity.

Monica van Wensveen is the convenor of Canberras newest community garden.

You actually have quite a good relationship with Dickson College?
Last year they approached us and said would we like to asked if we would like to come into an arrangement with them for their old agriculture block. They dont teach agriculture anymore and this was an area that theyd like to see utilised by a community group.

Aquaponics Home System – Part 14: Drain
Feb 8

The water circulation system is made from PVC pipes and fittings, that are held together with glue, or PVC cement:

On the left above is a can of special PVC cleaner. It smells awful when applied so I had to open a window to keep my braincells from dying. It’s so strong that it actually dissolves a thin layer on the surface of the PVC, which helps the glue get an even better grip.

The glue bottle comes with a useful brush in the lid to make it easy to apply the glue to the PVC pipes. The glue is applied to both items before assembly:

Indoor Aquaponic System
This is an indoor aquaponics setup that I am using as a biofilter for my goldfish. I was spending around .00 each week to replace the charcoal filters and was tired of maintaining the filters, replacing water, and cleaning each week. This setup has been running for 3 months and the water has stayed clean. Once a month, I will clean the glass so people can get a clear view, but it really isn’t necessary

Aquaponics For Beginners - 5 System Considerations And Requirements

You can set up your own aquaponics system rather easily however there are some factors you need to consider and understand before you get started. The first item is selecting your location, if you have limited space then this will determine the size of your grow beds and the fish tank.

Your system placement.

The next consideration is the actual placement of your system, it is important that you are able to maintain a comfortable temperature and the light source is important for your plants but might cause issues with your fish tank because of algae.

What I got today

So if anyone ever checked the green blog...basically here is whats up.  Everything I buy has to be organic, from a good company, or local.  I added the OR because the co-op I was looking at for human food refuses to work towards that organic label but does grow organic by definition.  If I dont, I must donate $1 to some sort of charity.  This months charity is Sacramento County Animal Control & Regulation.

Today was terrible.  Here are my stats for yesterday as well

Applebees - $25ish - $1
Del Taco - $15 - $1
Soda - $3 - $1
Ice cream - $4 - $1
Gas - $20 - $1

Owed today - $5
Owed in total - $5

And that is that!  Tomorrow I will go shopping for food.

Gravity Blog cross posting

Oh bloggers...I love you guys.  I know I get a lot of traffic here but quite frankly, I feel like Im talking to myself! I will be posting at a community known as The Gravity Blog.

Girls I have met on a certain forum starting with a P, be warned that this will include many images that may cause what is otherwise noted as trigger content (much like old posts here.)  I will continue to keep this blog clean but all texts will be added to Gravity Blog.

cocky I think so bloggy blog

I walked home slowly through the dark. I got out early that night. My Ipod died soon after class though. I saw a pit bull in the yard. She looked alert. She went into the bushes. I had to walk near them...it was the only way home. And then...she pounced. I stood still. She scared me. She came up to me. She opened her mouth...she aimed for my hand....and then...

SLIRP. Yuck. She drooled on my hand. I didnt mind though as it was freezing outside and her hot breath warmed my icicles for fingers. "Hi" I said. She was lost. Her leash was on with no ID. "Where do you live?" What a foolish question. This dog was truly lost. I think she knew what I meant...as she walked from the direction she possibly came from but ended up going in circles and tucking her tail in between her legs. I gave up. Mom surely would kill me if I took her home...even though I would very likely walk around looking for her owner...ESPECIALLY since she had a collar with leash attached.

I saw a man swiftly and anxiously walking down the street. "Did you lose a dog?" He came up to me "Yes please have you seen her?" I gave him reassurance and told him his dog took off about three seconds ago and to keep going straight.

And that is my latest vicious pit bull attack. She looked a lot like the one in the picture but very much more terrified.

Ok So I know I usually talk about my odd application experiences. Well...out of all of them I think JC Penney has been the worse. I mean I had to start over like...six times because of computer errors. One time it was simply because I couldnt change my previous payment history under my previous jobs. I mean one I put 7.50 and it insisted that I added another zero...so it was 7.500...

...

So then I entered it as 7.5 and it re-entered it as 7.500

lol

And during the survey thing...about 30 out of the 50 questions it had asked if I shopped at Jc Penney and what my favorite store to shop at is.

LAME

I mean thats as bad as Petco asking about a TV or GAP Inc (old navy) having most of their questions ask if I have ever stolen anything.

so as I was writing this blog I realized Gunther sounds like Takakura from Harvest Moon: Its a Wonderful Live Special Edition.

HAHA

Like when he says "Oooh you touch my talala" it sounds almost exactly like when Takakura says "ooooh" when you talk to him.

Anyway I just found out that when you have a daughter on Harvest Moon Wonderful Life she looks like the dad. That sucks because you need to do extra steps to have a girl...and I tried super hard to marry Nami...the redhead so I could have a redhead daughter =[

I have decided that all of my favorite trance/dance/house/techno/blah blah blah songs are all emo...except Lifestyles and pretty rave girl (Which I found out is by DJ S3rl NOT I am X-ray...please everyone make a note of it)

lyrics such as

"Heavenly, is all that, I could feel
Now your here
And left without a single feel
From this day on..."
-Markus Schulz Never be the Same Again

"Feeling sad and lonely
Cause I cant find you
Call your telephone
And theres never no answer
Said you love me
Kissed me
We were in heaven
Said Im sorry
Love you, want you forever"
-we all know that one

And I just ran into this really cool song while looking for this other song.

HSUS PETA and SHARK I need help understanding

- start rant -

SPCA, Shelters...everyone...struggles to make money to feed animals and care for them. Why is it organizations that dont even have animals in possession are making millions?

is there a problem? Maybe I could make millions on people being retarded.

so four major things I HAVE to do in life

1) Take down PETA
2) Take down SHARK (SHowing Animals Respect and Kindness...mainly a rodeo focus)
3) Take down HSUS...or at least change them
4) Take down Microsoft

so whats wrong with PETA? Everything...
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wishes to destroy every pet animal. They have ben cited for throwing dead bodies onto highways and even spent millions on a freezer. Worst story I have been able to read (not the worst but those make me sick) is about a dog. She had a litter, was very skinny, and was diagnosed with cancer. PETA fought to keep her out of the shelter and to let her roam the streets. Is the freedom worth it? Doesnt sound very ethical to me.

Ok so most people think rodeos look bad. SHARK is a ridiculous organization based and targeted to city people and people that have no idea what rodeos are about. Rodeos are sports where a cowboy/girl demonstrates their ability to do things that were necessary back in the day. Roping a calf and tying it up is a lot safer than leaving it to survive on its own in the wilderness...or even leave males intact where they can go and break a cows back. So whats with bull/bronco riding? With bulls...how else did you expect to keep up with a loose bull? Chase it in a Mercedes? Same with horses (although that was normally used for breaking...which isnt used today).

HSUS...not the worse thing...but very racist like PETA. They are also against keeping pit bulls alive as well as other animals. However they focus mainly on encouraging proper care (when they arent trying to commit genocide). I just think they dont need the millions they make when they arent even helping shelters....except to commit genocide.

Microsoft was only included in this cause I hate it SO much that I feel I always need to include it in hate rants.

- end rant -

Why people are poor and how we fix it

I have limited this to America simply because every country is different.  People are poor here for two main reasons.
  1. hard times
  2. stupidity
Stupidity often leads to ignorance.  Ignorance is the worst thing that could happen to anything.  But before I go on, let me tell everyone what sparked this today.

I dont live in the best neighborhood.  This is mostly because of my own stupidity.  I could move.  I could do this and that...but I havent.  Why?  Because of my own patience.  Sometimes things are good to wait for.  This isnt quite one of them.  Since I have realized this bad move, I have worked for a way to get out.  Anyway, I was walking the dogs today with no problem.  My neighbor and I chatted up a bit.  This guy, awesome.  He lives here because he has a family to take care of and it was a cheap house with an extremely large yard.  He has two large pit bulls that arent walked, but played with for hours a day while some of the family tends to the garden in the back.  As I walked further down the street, I came across a dog nearly hopping the fence.  Two things could have happened
  1. the dog wouldnt have made it
  2. the dog would have had his face smashed in because Im not the kind of person that stands there screaming "oh no stop please!"
The dog didnt make it.  The dog wasnt the problem.  The owner standing in the yard that let her dogs jump all over her and became nervous at the sight of me walking by was the problem.  A weak owner should either man up or not have two large, aggressive breeds.  She probably got them as cute puppies.  Stupidity.  However she didnt fix this stupid move one bit.  Nope, they grew up to own her.  What made me even more mad was the neighbor that commented "almost ol boy!"  I question if she would have said the same thing if the dog did jump the fence and I did, to protect my pack, injured him.  Ignorance.

So why are people poor in America?

Well lets rephrase this.  Why do people stay poor in America?

First, lets look at the definitions of poor (used in our context of course.)

Merriam-Websters definition of poor (of course Oxford you have to pay for and the free dictionary isnt working for me at this time.)
  1. lacking material possessions
  2. small in worth
  3. less than adequate
No wonder why everyone is money hungry and materialistic.  People dont want to be "less than adequate" but instead happy and...adequate.

Anyone taking Economics may come across this interesting thing called standard of living and another thing called quality of life.  These things, interestingly enough, do not like each other.  When standard of living is high, quality of life is low and vice versa.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN PEOPLE IN THE SLUMS ARE HAPPIER THAN PEOPLE IN MANSIONS???!?!

It isnt just worldwide.  Often "poor" people in the country are happier than people financially happy and with more possessions in urban/suburban areas.  There is much less crime in the country and it has nothing to do with nature or living far apart.

These poor people (living in those purple mountains of the US or those hills of China) have one thing many city folk have forgotten about.  They have communities and family that are willing to be there for them.  Im not dissing city folk (after all, I was raised suburban and have lived suburban my entire life) but we seem to be so into what we dont have.  Many minimalists (the lifestyle, not the fashion/music/anything of those sorts) are catching on as well.  Less is more.  Besides, our real friends and good family dont care what we have or how messy our living room is.

In short, how do I think we should fix poor?  Stop being so damn materialistic.  I can spew on about being eco friendly which, with knowledge on how to not be scammed, comes out being much cheaper but that isnt what this post is about.  In fact, I will probably blog that next.

In this wonderful country we call home, we do need some income.  We dont own anything for fuck sake and when we do own it 100%, there is usually some law keeping an eye on it.

HOW TO STOP BEING POOR pt 1

Do yourself a favor and be eco friendly (more on that in the next blog.)  What you need and what you want are two different things.

HOW TO STOP BEING POOR pt 2

This requires more than just yourself.  Go to a farmers market or a local farm to shop.  Buy from local stores.  Yes this costs more but think of it this way.

yummy!Wal Mart opens a new store and it creates 200 local jobs plus temporary jobs for construction workers.

A family shop opens a very large store of the same size and it only buys products from other family owned shops.  It creates 200 local jobs plus more jobs for those shops that it is getting product from.  It encourages more local practices.  This also means less people need to be on welfare or need financial assistance because we opened up more than 200 jobs.  Tada!  Less taxes we have to spew out.

HOW TO STOP BEING POOR pt 3

Knowledge.  Yeah simple.  Dont be stupid or impulsive.  Since dogs and cats are a big pet peeve of mine, I will use them as an example.

We buy a puppy from a pet store which likely came from a puppy mill.  This has helped our local economy but not in a good way.  The greedy owner just wants your money and doesnt care about you.  Same with a free

Puppy mills often get tax evasions

kitten.  We encourage these people to allow animals to breed thus more die in shelters.  Putting animals down isnt cheap but county and city shelters usually get some sort of government help.  Tada...minus more tax money!  A little research goes a long way.

a blog about people I think

So first things first.  Anyone notice Anji could easily play in a movie set in New Zealand?

David I love you.  lol.  You are actually the reason I didnt go to school Thursday.  Kinda got sick...and the first person I thought of was David.  Urgh couldnt do that to him.

It seems to be the month of love.  Everyone wants to be with someone.  Good luck guys. David if you start drowning we will all form a giant net and catch you...like this one.

Just a little friendlier =]

as far as Thim...someday.  =]

Speaking of fish netting and junk...

Adam created this new game where he catches people with a blanket.  He did this to Danny (my brother) and he ended up running into a wall, a door, and crashing his head on the glass table like 3 times.  Never shed a tear till he fell down after I pulled this snow sleigh thing.... -_-

Mow cat...goes...mow

I REALLY WANT SOME CAKE, ICE CREAM, AND PIZZA D:

SOME PEOPLE I KNOW THINK THAT IM CRAZY

But seriously I dont know of anything that has more potential to easily and relatively inexpensively provide food for people in need. Aquaponics can do it and at the same time, not damage soils, our planet or our bodies. Aquaponics does not use anywhere near the water, compared to any other cropping procedure that I know of. It is safe, easy to learn and it works. This blog is total positive proof with over 3,700 visitors interested in, building or already taking advantage of the ongoing benefits that are available through Aquaponics.

Its not hard to work out if Aquaponics is right for you, your family, your community. The facts are already in and the votes are being counted daily as new people are deciding to make Aquaponics their preferred way or helping to provide food for their family, community or just for their own personal needs.

Every week I use Twitter to help promote this blog and in the process, I list the reasons why Aquaponics is good for you and good for the planet. The reason is simply because we cant deny facts. Lets look at them.
NO Chemicals,
NO Pesticides,
NO Soil erosion,
NO Soil diseases,
NO Genetic Modification
NO Artificial fertilizers
Comparatively little water,
The most environmentally friendly, sustainable food production system in our world today,

In addition, Aquaponics changes the playing field - Waist-high aquaponic gardening cuts down the risk of injury and makes gardening far more easily accessible to people with difficulties.

Final Design: The Aquaponics Tipper
The tipper is an improvement on current bell siphon systems. The tipper helps deliver reliability, robustness, and independence from flow-rate for success. By having two intermittent flows, the flow rate into the reservoir is decoupled from the flow rate out of the reservoir. This solves the failure modes that the bell siphon can encounter under high or low flow rate in. The bell siphon fails in high and low flow rates because of the...[more]

Welcome Niles North, Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community!  I hope you find it a fun place to explore aquaponics.  There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to get in there and start asking questions.  Everyone is quite happy to help out new members – no question is too basic.

Aquaponics and rabbits
About two more weeks till I can dig the footings for the shed that will house my Florida White Rabbits. I recently purchased two 55 gallon steel drums for a rocket mass heater under the shed and noticed the guy selling them had food grade 250 gallon tanks. This got me thinking of adding an aquaponics system in the shed with the rabbits. Heating would be a concern, but I think could [more]

Mason area volunteers help in ‘neediest areas of Nigeria’
“We have quite a diverse group of creative, intelligent and courageous hopefuls who are setting out to inspire– and most definitely, perspire– in the some of the neediest areas of Nigeria.”

The trip is organized by Self-Sustaining Enterprises of Mason.  Eleven Mason area business professionals are making the journey, from March 16 – 26, to help local Nigerians construct an aquaponics fish pond, set up a 500-700-gallon cinderblock fish factory and develop other microenterprise initiatives.[MORE]

DIY Aquaponics

The great thing about this sort of farming is that you will not have to bend to take care of the plants. Placing the fish tank and the netting pots at the waist level will make all activities you need to do in order to take care of the plants and fish undemanding as a childrens game. You can say so long to digging, bending and stretching to reach as larger surface, and crawling on your knees to take the weeds out of the ground. You shall have everything you need at your arms’ reach.
The aquaponic plan is right for any age as well as for people with any kind of activity. It requires little time and it gives very good outcomes. On condition that you take respectable care of your fish, your vegetation should grow bigger and bigger, will develop normally and towards the end you will harvest the greatest veggies you have ever tasted![MORE]

Nigerian mission trip focus: Microenterprises
MASON - Eleven businessmen from the greater Cincinnati area headed to Jos, Nigeria this week on a 10-day mission trip. But unlike other mission trips, this groups focus is a bit different: Microenterprises.

The group hopes to use their business skills to train people to do jobs that could serve as careers, which could have a huge impact on a villagers life. "If we can provide $150 to someone who starts a chicken coop, that enterprise will help someone," he said.

The group however, has much bigger ideas than chicken coops. One member of the group, David West, invested $1000 last September on a technique that could revolutionize farming in the area called aquaponics.

"If we do it right, we could produce 600 to 700 pounds of lettuce a week," project manager Brad Rogers said. "Its feasible to have one on a farm anywhere - the U.S. model is basically a four-by-eight frame [MORE]

West Chester resident part of group to help impoverished Nigerians
Posted by rrichardson March 17th, 2011, 9:52 am Post a Comment

MasonBuzz.com reports on a coalition of area volunteers who traveled to Jos, Nigeria yesterday as part of a faith-based marketplace ministry.

The group of 11 travelers includes West Chester resident Jeff Greer, a senior pastor at Grace Chapel in Mason.

During their six-day trip, the group will help local Nigerians construct an aquaponics fish pond and set up a 500-700-gallon cinderblock fish factory, eventually capable of producing up to 300 fish a month and 80 heads of organic lettuce every 40 days.

Group members will also help train women workers who own...[more]

Tomato Plants Are Like People

Heirloom Tomatoes: Are They Really Heirloom?
by Lawrence Davis-Hollander
Let’s be clear. I love heirloom tomatoes.
I may raise the hackles of some heirloom seed purveyors by telling you that there is a great deal of misrepresentation out there in the heirloom tomato world. Much of it is not on purpose.

Not every variety called an heirloom tomato is an heirloom tomato. Many varieties featured in seed catalogs are actually new intentional creations or chance hybridizations that have...
