Where Oh Where have all the Fridays gone

Before I retired I used to look forward all week for Friday. This was the big goal in my life and Friday was always the longest day of the week. Now all that has gone. Now every day could be almost the same as every other day. So we need to be careful. Making sure that there is enough variety in our week so we can always differentiate between them. You know, when you think about it, Possibly its things like lost Fridays that could be a contributing factor in elderly illnesses and maybe depression. Golleeee Maybe Ive just had a medical breakthrough.
Shut up and get to work:

Aquaponics as an Energy Source
Aha!  I prbably got lots of you with that title!  Hehe.  You are probably wondering what in the world I am talking about.  I know it is a bit deceiving, but its what came to mind as I wanted to blog some more about my aquaponics experience.  Aquaponics has certainly been a personal energy source for me, hence the...

Aquaponics for Beginners
By Michael Harradine

Aquaponics is a great way for beginners to get into organic food growth. A system is very easy to set up and can be as big or as small as you want.

If you are a total beginner and this is your first crack at aquaponics then I suggest you start small. This is because when you are new to something mistakes are easily made and...

Growing Power: Will Allen

Most of us don’t expect that performing a simple act of kindness will someday lead to recognition as a genius (by the MacArthur Foundation), showers of money (more than $1 million in grant funds), and working relationships with a former president (Bill Clinton) and a current First Lady (Michelle Obama). But that’s what happened to Will Allen, former professional basketball player and...

How to wear a shirt

Should I return the map??

First Id like to announce that I pray for the day where I found out Im adopted...as my family is too stupid for me to be related to...

And my sister...beyond annoying. I mean damn...act your age, not my shortest friends shoe size (which is 6 I believe)

Anyway...was playing some Earthbound a while ago...great game.

So what brings me to the internet today is a little different. I have actually come here to try to figure out how to wear a shirt.

yep you read that right.

Its mostly because I have an interview with Macys...a clothing store...and dont want to look too stupid there.

So its the perfectionist coming out in me.

well its more like Im looking for what to wear. Do I wear something on the more casual me-ish side or do I completely dress to impress?

I have yet to tell my family cause they are soooo fucking annoying that Id rather be homeless than deal with them squealing like headless pigs about me needing to look perfect.

why you dont have a girlfriend

KEY - because the picture didnt show up all the way

Im only average looking, but have a fun personality.

Im shy around girls, but great once I get to know them.

I dont hang out with the popular crowd but have fun, close friends.

I cant afford to buy her nice things, but Im willing to put the time and effort.

Im a level 80 Paladin

Ok let me clarify this one a little bit.

Its not because this person has a level 80 WoW character (btw 85 is the new 80) but because he has a level 80 Paladin. You see Paladins are ridiculous characters that have pretty good strength, can heal, resurrect, buff the crap out of themselves, and are basically effing cheating gay blurbs that are best used for starters. Yes I know I have a blood Elf Paladin...she is ridiculous.

So the reason these people dont have a girlfriend isnt because they play WoW enough to get to level 80 but because they want to get to a goal without working as hard as everyone else (AKA Bill Gates-ish). Oh and the fact he is calling himself a level 80 Paladin...is it the only character? What a loser. He is not a level 80 but his character is. Hopefully he doesnt run around like a douche with his level 80 Paladin and has created another character =]

SAD BLOG

This blog features Hachiko...scroll down to read about him.

Well first we are going to start about an update to what happened.

Vicky Sue...the gf of manslut.

Yeah me and thim both agree that manslut is totally using Vicky Jo.

It sucks cause Vicky Jo is really cool but dunno how to tell her...about Mary Sue. If you arent sure what I mean consult Takas blog.

EFF YOU MANSLUT. I DIDNT MIND YOU TILL NOW! NO WONDER NOBODY LIKES YOU.

anyway now for a story that is just tragic...and not about mansluts.
Its about a dog.

His name was Hachik? and he was an akita that lived in Tokyo.

Yes he has his own statue in Japan.

copied from Wiki...yeah its pretty accurate

In 1924, Hachik? was brought to Tokyo by his owner Hidesabur? Ueno, a professor in the agriculture department at the University of Tokyo. During his owners life Hachik? saw him off from the front door and greeted him at the end of the day at the nearby Shibuya Station. The pair continued their daily routine until May 1925, when Professor Ueno did not return on the usual train one evening. The professor had suffered a stroke at the university that day. He died and never returned to the train station where his friend was waiting. Hachik? was given away after his masters death, but he routinely escaped, showing up again and again at his old home. Eventually, Hachik? apparently realised that Professor Ueno no longer lived at the house. So he went to look for his master at the train station where he had accompanied him so many times before. Each day, Hachik? waited for Professor Ueno to return. And each day he did not see his friend among the commuters at the station. The permanent fixture at the train station that was Hachik? attracted the attention of other commuters. Many of the people who frequented the Shibuya train station had seen Hachik? and Professor Ueno together each day. They brought Hachik? treats and food to nourish him during his wait. This continued for 10 years, with Hachik? appearing only in the evening time, precisely when the train was due at the station.

Hachik? died on March 8, 1935. He was found on a street in Shibuya. His heart was infected with filarial worms and 3–4 yakitori sticks were found in his stomach. His stuffed and mounted remains are kept at the National Science Museum of Japan in Ueno, Tokyo.

This doesnt mean we should all go out and get Akitas though. They are a very dominant breed and will likely eat you if you arent 100% sure on what you are doing...or youre over confident. So lets just admire their beauty on here.

These dogs are HIGH on the euthanasia list...like up there with pit bulls and rotties. Im not saying never own one just be experienced...but if you do then adopt...

B blog I think so!

this blog was originally about Adam...and he said "Make this blog about Adam playing L4D2 DEMO while he is playing vs. on the Demo" and he says Fuck You Jacob....

-_-

Adam youre an attention whore.

So I really like the name Raine...which is something he picked out. Well I love it except it is really hard to find a middle name for.

I asked Thim and this is what she came up with
Raine May
Raine Elizabeth
Raine Elliot (thim Elliot is a boys name...still lol)
Raine Emily
Raine Addie
Raine Annie
Raine Paige
Raine Anabelle
and someone said Raine Noelle

men always pick the hardest names.

Maybe Raine Annette....

I really love Danae as a name (It originally has an accent...so Danaë) and Zarah (Zara) just cayse they sound cool...and are exotic as well as Sonora and Tenaya. But...out of all boy names...I still favor Orion :O and have started to favor Dante. My only problem with Dante is the first Dante I met was an annoying black kid who I wanted to punt cause of his short size. Tenaya...was a girl in high school who was very...well...out there, a stoner, got knocked up, and dropped out of high school...lol. I severley started to favor Dante as a boys name when Adam suggested it.

so Yup...at Adams house. He totally wanted me to write a blog about him. He made me dinner...it was super filling and awesomely delicious. My stomach hurts though -no fault of his- and not sure what I want to write about. Kinda wanna cuddle with this blanket that I used to hate cause it would spit out feathers.

And I kinda want him to come warm me up but he is playing video games...being all chippy like.

So now time to have a binary conversation with Thim on facebook <3

This is unbelievable news about aquaponics. Here is the system for anyone: poor and rich alike.
Saves you your quality of life, your time, your resources, and many more.
Enter aquaponics, the whole of food gardening which has a small but growing group of followers, not least because its advantages seem almost too good for being true. An aquaponics installation requires no soil, scant water (two-ten percent of what’s employed in usual vegetable garden), a modest financial outlay and minimal maintenance. There’s no coping with pesticides, and also the system is sustainable and straightforward to set up. For gardeners alert to.....

How Aquaponics Changes the Game
- Waist-high aquaponic gardening eliminates weeds, back strain and animal access to your garden.
- Reuse resources currently considered “waste”. There is no more toxic run-off from either hydroponics or aquaculture.
- Uses only 1/10th of the water of soil-based gardening, and even less water than recirculating aquaculture.
- Watering is integral to the system. You can’t under-water or over-water.
- Fertilizing is also integral to the system. You can’t over-fertilize or under-fertilize.
- Gardening chores are cut down dramatically or eliminated. The aquaponic grower only does

                                    ...oooOooo...

Aquaponics system is the most sustainable food production system in our world today. Aquaponics in a dynamic, natural, pond-type eco-system, produces both fish and organic vegetables; thus producing 2 streams of income. Aquaponics systems provide controlled environment where aquaculture (fish breeding/growing) and hydroponics (soil less plant growing) is integrated together in a symbiotic habitat. It is composed of a water re-circulating environment where the fish and plants live symbiotically. Both light and temperature are carefully controlled in an aquaponic system....

Send in the clones: Popular scion exchange could produce hundreds of fruit trees

By nadia drake

APTOS -- Some of the tastiest fruits cant be bought. Not because theyre too expensive, but because they dont exist in stores. However, they can be grown -- cloned, actually -- by the average backyard gardener.
On Jan. 16, the Monterey Bay chapter of the California Rare Fruit Growers will host a scion exchange, where cuttings from fruit trees -- called scions -- will be available to buy and graft onto root stocks. There also will be a short grafting workshop, and custom trees can be created on the spot.
Fusing a scion to a root stock produces a clone of the scions donor tree, with the same tasty fruit -- like, for example, the funny-looking, scrumptious Allens Everlasting apple, which is not available at the neighborhood Safeway...

Why is there very little take up of Aquaponics in the commercial arena around the world? Is it lack of knowledge, too new and unknown or just too hard to make it work profitably?

Its not to do with making it work properly; it has been put to bed by now that this technology works and works well. My work at University and in New Zealand shows categorically that you can match, and even sometimes better, hydroponic plant growth rates and the harvest quality of the plants. Its more about whether it is financially viable or not. All commercial entities need to...

HAVE A GREAT DAY
O Z Z I E

as coy as a fish

Not really...

Let me tell you something world...I LIKE GIRLS. I do. I mean not only girls (hence why I have a boyfriend) but yeah before him, I hit on waay more girls than guys. There is a good friend of mine. She is pretty (not bi or lesbian) but one thing I cannot stand about her is she makes decisions that get her into trouble and drinks...a lot. Tipsy every week at least is too much for me. I severely worry about all of my friends that drink. Even if I were totally into her, these two things (ESPECIALLY the drinking) would turn me off in a heartbeat.

So let me tell you about this girl. First she sleeps with a slut...a guy that practically sticks it in everything. Well whatever. Today she told me that she went to a party last weekend and made out with four people, one being the girlfriend of the guy she was fooling with. Seeing as there were speaks of a small porno with this girlfriend being in a lesbo scene, that didnt shock me one bit. What made me give a yuck face was the fact it was like an achievement to make out with four people in one night!

just my opinion...that isnt cool unless youre in an organized foursome/orgy.

But I still love her. BFF for life I guess.

Anyway...something I think is interesting.People hate on goldfish as pond fish because they poop a lot. Koi, however, are seen as beautiful pond fish that are never hated on. A bit racist I think. Koi will destroy your pond plants, goldfish wont. The only differences between the two? Koi is a pretty common carp while goldfish are pretty much a domestic carp. They are cheaper and most pond fish will grow only about a foot smaller than those koi things. Buut most people till see koi as better. This is a picture of my favorite type of goldfish called Shubunkin goldfish.

This is my favorite type of Koi which goes by butterfly koi (but also sometimes dragon koi or American koi)

Both start out around the same price and end up around the same price when theyre large. Both have long flowing fins. Difference? One will bond with you like a dog (koi) and the other wont destroy your pond plants.

I want my goldfish to be near my outdoor altar (whenever that happens.) I guess it is good goldfish arent as friendly because the last thing I want is to draw too many visitors to my private space. Koi? I might get those when I have children so we can enjoy the pond as a family. Call me backasswards but that means my goldfish will be my prized fish.

But what is prized shouldnt be based on race now should it?

Aquaponics News Highlights

A perfect week downunder. Wonderful weather, our Aussie Dollar is still boyant and our politicians seem to be behaving themselves. The big worry here at the moment is Schoolies Week. Yes this is the week when Grade 12 School leavers decide in their droves to let their hair down. Unfortunately they also decend on the Gold Coast here in Queensland and it usually becomes a very wild week with headaches for the Police, Parents, Local Residents Oh yes and a lot of the Kids. Hopefully this year might be a little quieter.

End of the year resolution

So my new years resolution was to find someone that would love me as much as Id love them...to actually learn to trust someone I could spend forever with. I found that...but now I have a new goal...

I have come to the conclusion that this year isnt going to get any better. Usually the year doesnt crap out on me till around November but its pretty bleh right now. I cant just wait around for January. I have to be stronger especially since its likely Christmas will come around and just shit on me like a sick elephant that took a ton of laxatives.

So first thing is first. First on my list

1) get a job. The most important thing. I have applied from Citrus Heights to Natomas. This is a tough one...but one of my issues is lack of money and lack of places to vent and spend alone time...due to lack of money. A lot of my issues would be solved if I could take care of myself.

2) create a "to do" list where I list everything Id need to survive on my own and everything I want. I have very few wants but...hey. So far it includes
-Getting freeway groomed
-getting spyro neutered
-get a job
-buy my own printer/paper
-buy detergent free laundry soap so my skin can stop killing itself
-buy a bicycle
-learn to drive (this will very much not even happen till the end)

3) Convince grandparents they dont need the mac or the wireless router. In general it has only created problems for them. If I took the Mac they could put the printer where it stands...thus making me able to connect it via USB. This printer is terribly slow via wireless...no joke. And with no need for a wireless router...

4) Do something Adam would totally enjoy and could brag about later...just because I love him

5) Pass school so I can get financial aid next year

And my other list of things I want to do for the community.

1) Spay at least two litters of kittens

2) Donate to a church that feeds the hungry/helps the community (likely Thim/Kings)

3) Volunteer at a hospital/shelter (in progress)

this and that

It seems that any pet I get is either black, white, or both. Not sure why, its just the way I role I guess.

Besides that, my day was full of this and that, mostly love and hate.

Typically Id use Google Chrome, but it wouldnt let me play Dr. Mario for some reason...so I used Firefox. I started blogging on my other blog and got about 2000 words on there when I had to leave my internet source.

Unfortunately I was using Windows. Today, it made me hate it more. While I was on the way back here (Adams grandmas house) Windows decided to restart for God knows why (last time I checked it already updated) and, of course, closed every program without asking me.

I logged back on and Firefox restored about 500 of my words on my blogger. Good Firefox. But damn thats a lot missing.

Now this is why I love blogger. It saved my draft all the way up to the 2000th word. WIN!!!

And Its still love/hate between Dr. Mario. BLEH.

My Problem With Biracial Identification

Husband and I have decided to make our family consist of bio kids and adopted kids.  Our bio kids, no doubt about it, will be biracial.  Our adopted kids may or may not...who knows?  I personally would prefer it but it isnt that big a deal to me.

What made me bring this up is a whole heap of things talking about black identity and this crazy biracial problem with identifying with a race blah blah blah.  Let me be forward.  This is stupid.  Husband has it in the back of his head but I started researching now so Im at least somewhat familiar with it when the time comes.  When I started researching adoption in the US, I saw that it could be tricky especially because wed prefer an orphan/foster child.  It seemed like a lot of the younger children had needs beyond what we could handle or in sibling groups with older children (which we dont know if we could handle...maybe in the future.)  That settled it.  We would either fost adopt a young child/baby or go international.  In the end, we will probably go with fost adopt but this didnt stop me from looking into international.  After all, there are cases of parents that were likely to have rights terminated that turned their lives around and got their children back.  I can see how fost adopt can lead to some major heartbreak.

If I had the room, money, and if husband would let me, this would be what our family would look like. Large and full of children with varying races.

In my search for international, I checked out China due to the mass amount of orphans there.  I also checked out Korea which I read had more boys than girls.  There are heritage camps just so these children can know their culture.  Fantastic!  As I started looking back into domestic adoption, I saw that a lot of black/biracial children were being adopted by white parents.  They also felt social identity was a huge part of adoption and thus tried very hard to bring culture to their children.  There is a huge problem with this.

Black kids...lets talk about black people.  Black people in the US are, in general, a mix between a bunch of African people at least and usually have at least a teeny bit of something else (Native American or white) in them.  Personally I identify myself as black mixed.  This is because my Native American, black, and white ancestors dont go that far back.  A good handful of my family, including my mom, could easily blend in with snow.  People can tell that my hair isnt as kinky and my face has Native features.  My hair is longer with a mixed texture.  Most of my hair curls with very few ringlets.

Back to black people.  There are a bunch of people in Africa, all with different cultures.  To say that you are learning about black culture is just plain stupid.  Black culture is American culture.  Unless you know your African tribes, you can only go back to slavery times (AKA the start of America.)  So please tell me...what culture exactly are you teaching your black/biracial children?  Is it not just American culture?

Two very different tribes.  Where ya from?  How do you know?

You can also say the same for white children.  When I say white, I mean pale-skin-multi-ethnic type children.  In other words, if you adopt a child from Russia, they have a culture to learn.  If you adopt a Spanish child, they have a culture to learn.  Adopt a child who was born from a family of predominantly Irish people, they have a culture to learn.  If you adopt an American "Caucasian" child, their culture starts right here in America when people started coming here on boats.

Now since black people have this American culture and white people have this American culture, guess what black and white kids have?  Well you know...American culture!  Teach em about AMURIKUH!

By all means learn about your children.  Kinky, curly hair is much different than straight hair.  Thick, Mexican hair isnt like thin, European hair.  Hell it seems even thin, Asian hair isnt like thin, European hair!  Must be easy with boys but girls...we like to look pretty.

THE WONDER THAT IS AQUAPONICS

Wonderful WEDNESDAY

When I started playing with Aquaponics I thought it was something that simply provided a means of producing greens a bit quicker and considerably easier. By now we all know the details, far less water, no need for fertilizers etc. etc. What a shock was about to unfold when I began to realise the incredible powers that had suddenly become available through A/P. Powers that are still being unravelled before my eyes.

Things like when growing tomatoes, you need to remove side shoots from the plant as it climbs up its stringy home. Every one of those removed shoots will grow into another Tomato plant simply by poking them into my gravel bed. Each plant providing another ten to twenty new clones that can produce ten to twenty more that can produce...  Each one of them an identical copy of the original.

If I go down to my local nursery I find tomato seedlings in a pot for something like six babies for $2.95 and up to $5 or more for a large seedling in its own pot.

And incredibly this applies across many plants that are still amazing me. An insect chewed off the top of a cucumber plant So I did the same thing. BINGO the chewd off head of the cucumber is growing fine as is the parent. The same thing happened to a Zuccini, with the same happy result. The A/P garden really is my personal, magical wonderland. I hope you get to play like me, to see just how far you too can stretch its ability.

Now lets get to work....

The art of being human

Im sure when the slave ant looks to us, they look to us and ask the world why they cant be human?  Being human means making your own decisions and stepping on animals nowhere near as "great" and changing the world.

What the ant doesnt understand is that great power leads to great destruction, not only to the world but oneself.

Im not being pessimistic today...really.  I have been destroying myself lately.  Not physically...just mentally.

I think it is safe to say that most women pull themselves out of their own mental trouble eventually.  I can say that my mind is emotionally scrambled and deteriorating but I will get on a platform and fix it eventually.  That is who I am but until then....

Its the fact that, there was something I had very dear to me, a flower.  It wilted not because of any natural cause but because I, as a human, forced it to.  I didnt want to but the people around me convinced me that it was the best thing to do.  I didnt regret it till now really...now when everyone is getting flowers and all will get to see them bloom.  I feel like I should feel happy especially since one of those flowers belongs to a dear friend of mine.  Deep down inside, I am happy ecstatic for her!  But on top of all that happiness is jealousy.

I have been a sour person to her in some points of life.  I have always been jealous to be honest.  Im not as sincere, nice, pretty or smart which turned into me not being as laid back as I used to be...

...as laid back as her....

But dear world, I have never tried to be like her honestly.  It is a mere coincidence that we like a lot of the same things.  I can safely say that I love many things that she hates and were ok with that.  After all, were two different people!
Who am I to make the flowers of life wait for me when they have nothing to do with me?  It isnt really her.  In fact, I think that I can easily say this is jealousy overload.  EVERYONE around me is doing it...except me.  Heck I even get to watch as another best friend pair does it together.
I hate the fact that I can be so honest with myself about things like this.

Dearest loving friend you know who you are.  I cant say this to your face because...well youve known me long enough to know how that goes.  Im sorry for all those horrible things I have done and I truly am happy for you guys.  I hope all goes well.

and that is truly from the bottom of my heart?

Whew that feels better.

AN ADDITION TO THE AMONIA NOTE

I went through my compiled data for the water readings just after I put that last blog out and realised that Garth had given it a dressing of lime. So there are now two factors that could be responsible for the amonia starting to kick on again. By the way it is still moving the nitrites so the plants are eating again, thats nice to know hey...

Right! Where were we.....

Yes of course Aquaponics. Aquaponics created by Rob Maslin is the embodiment of a sustainable system.  Well thats what the page says(Editor)

Grandma is a fag

Grandma, mom, Danny, and I went to K-mart the other day...and I told grandma that if she did this one thing (dont even remember) then she is a fag. She then went on to tell me later that she is a fag. Then she wanted to buy this stupid blow up penguin thing and I told her that shed get chlamydia if she bought it. She yelled out in the store that she wanted chlamydia.

LOL fail grandma.

So the picture on the left is a 24 month onsie... It says Stud Muffin seeks cupcakes. *Must be sweet. I totally wish I had a kid so I could have an excuse to buy it lol. Its effing cuuute. I mean the cutest thing I have ever seen for a baby boy (or lesbian baby I guess...if youre that into your kid being a lesbian).

Oh anyway...earlier that day we went to Frys. I asked where I could find Nero or any other DVD ripping software. The guy went on about how it didnt void copyright. Do I look stupid? I mean wtf!!! So now fully irritated he tried to get me to buy Roxio...which I beyond HATE. I gave him the stupid look (the punch you face Tom always talks about but times 100) and just turned up my iPod and walked away with Nero.

Then I saw Kelly and was like ZOMG KELLY I LOVE YOUUUZ

anyway...Ima go steal some candy and a soda from my diabetic fag of a grandmother XD

The Wet Weekend Here Again

Yes the eastern seaboard of Australia is still recieving more than its share of water and I thought I might show a photo or two to give you some idea:

We have roughly a half a kilometer of winding road from the front gate to the house and the last 60 metres includes a bridge over a "CREEK". This creek normally has a trickle of water at most two metres wide by a few centimetres deep as it passes the house and that trickle is five metres below the bridge.

So......Here it is at 4.00pm today....:
The patch just behind the dog in the first image, is the far end of the bridge with water just passing over it.

Aquaponics has been revolutionizing the way many gardeners are growing their own food, as well as some commercial food producers. What is aquaponics? Aquaponincs combines growing fish (aquaculture), with growing plants without soil (hydroponics).
This creates a mutually beneficial system that closely mimics natural cycles. The fish waste provides rich nutrients to the plants, while the plants remove the fish wastes from the water to create a healthy environment for the fish...

Nevertheless, most practitioners Ive come across still seem to be figuring out how to make it work—and how to make money doing it. In an old industrial building on Milwaukees south side, five college students are developing something they hope can provide fish, vegetables and business opportunities for people in Haiti.
In theory, its not complicated: Fish, raised in a tank, would produce plant food through the waste they excrete in the water. The plants would filter the water for the fish, creating a mini-eco system.
The five Milwaukee School of Engineering seniors want to create a small-business opportunity for an orphanage in Haiti that could sell the tilapia to nearby restaurants and hotels. The orphanage also could produce vegetables for its residents and local markets...

Aquaponics Starting Tips Hey Guys!

Here are some Beginners Startup Tips i came across while surfing the net.

Its very informative and would probably save us a lot of valuable time as well.
1) System type – Media bed is recommended for new, Hobby growers.
Why not NFT or Deep Water Culture (AKA raft or DWC)?
A media bed performs three (3) filtering functions;
1 mechanical (solids removal)
2 mineralisation (solids breakdown and return to the water)
3 bio-filtration
Because the media bed also acts as the place for plant growth...

Aquaponics: Saving Haiti one aquapon at a time.

Just to be clear, there’s no such thing as an aquapon. (But there should be.)

How to grow Tomatoes in Aquaponics
Aquaponic systems grow fish in a water tank and use crops such as tomatoes to filter the tank water before it returns to the fish. The crop gets its nutrients from the tank water. Due to the somewhat experimental status of aquaponics, as of 2010, and the initial expense and the wide variety of set-ups being used both for research and for commercial production, you should have aquaponic systems...

The Hawaiian Islands are often called paradise. But living in the middle of the Pacific Ocean comes at a price. Supermarket chain “Wholefoods” is known locally as “Whole Paycheck.” And with a cost of living 30% higher than places like New York, the island is jokingly called “the palmed prison” because some people simply can’t afford to leave.

To break this dependence, some residents are looking to aquaponics – a system that combines aquatic farming with hydroponics.
and attached is video of one such system....

What Is Aquaponics? And How Is It Revolutionizing the Way We Grow Food?

Author: AM Wilson
Many home hobbyists, gardeners, and commercial food producers are starting to discover the advantages of aquaponics. This revolutionary system is a way of producing both fish and vegetables, using a fraction of the water, and eliminating the need for chemical fertilizers, and virtually eliminates harmful wastes.
What is aquaponics? It is the combination of hydroponics and aquaculture. Hydroponics is a method of growing plants with their roots directly in water without soil. Aquaculture is the process of growing fish. Both of these types of systems can be very efficient, but there are disadvantages associated with both.

Aquaponics entrepreneurs looking to turn a big idea into an even bigger business

With their array of exotic ingredients, spices and sauces, not to mention the take-no-prisoners approach that their regular customers sometimes deploy in the aisles, Asian supermarkets offer a stimulating sensory experience that the big box stores and national chains can’t match. But it’s the Asian supermarket’s fish section, and its visceral blend of sights, sounds and smells, that truly sets it apart from its more sterile peers. That’s why, when a hair-netted employee brings a heavy white plastic mallet down on the head of a live tilapia and starts scaling and gutting it, you’re....

Growing Power

Sorry no pictures on this one, Growing Power doesn’t allow it.
First let me say that I think Growing Power is a wonderful organization and I love what they are doing in general. However, I don’t think people new to aquaponics should attempt their Aquaponics System design methods of growing fish.
It isn’t that their methods don’t work, because they are obviously working for Growing Power. However, when one without much experience with Aquaponics tries to mimic their methods and doesn’t get it exactly right, the results tend to be tragic.
Now I did not take one of their Aquaponics Workshops so I don’t know exactly...
